New Delhi: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has cleared 22 fresh proposals under the third tranche of the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), with an estimated investment of Rs 41,863 crore, according to a media note issued this week.
With this, the total number of approved projects under the scheme has risen to 46.
The latest set of approvals spans 11 product segments catering to sectors such as mobile phones, telecom equipment, consumer electronics, automobiles, IT hardware and strategic electronics.
These include five bare components, three sub-assemblies and three key supply-chain materials.
The projects will be located across eight states, including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, reflecting the government’s push for a geographically balanced expansion of electronics manufacturing.
