New Delhi: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has appointed IAS Santosh Dattatraya Vaidya (1998 batch) of the AGMUT cadre as Principal Secretary (Home), Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.Â
He replaces senior IAS Bipul Pathak, a 1992-batch AGMUT officer, who has been assigned new responsibilities.
The reshuffle is aimed at streamlining administrative functioning and strengthening leadership across key departments in the Delhi government. Until Vaidya formally assumes charge, the Home Department will be managed under a stopgap arrangement by IAS Sandeep Kumar (1997 batch).
Sandeep Kumar is currently serving as Principal Secretary (Vigilance) and also holds the additional charges of Principal Secretary (Administrative Reforms) and Principal Secretary (IT). He is Chairman of the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board and Chairperson of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee. He will continue to function as Home Secretary until Vaidya takes over.
Bipul Pathak, who was serving as Additional Chief Secretary (Home), has now been appointed as Additional Chief Secretary (Social Welfare) with additional charge as Director, Union Territory Civil Services. Before this reassignment, Pathak was handling several key portfolios, including Home, Finance, Planning, and Industries. He was also Chairman of the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation.
The reallocation of responsibilities reflects a rebalancing of critical administrative roles within the Delhi government, with an effort to ensure focused leadership across departments.
