New Delhi: Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations along Delhi’s Kartavya Path, authorities have rolled out a set of measures, including metro station announcements and a QR code-based parking system, to streamline crowd and traffic movement, officials said.
According to reports, metro announcements will guide ticket and pass holders to the correct stations based on their allotted seating enclosures, all of which have been named after rivers this year. Spectators seated on the southern side of the Kartavya Path will be directed to alight at Udyog Bhawan Metro Station, while those with northern enclosures will be advised to exit at Central Secretariat.
To further ease access, pedestrian pathways have been aligned with the river-named enclosures to reduce congestion on parade day.
For those arriving by car, a QR code-based parking system has been introduced across 22 designated lots, capable of accommodating around 8,000 vehicles. Pass holders can scan the codes on their parking passes to receive real-time directions to the nearest parking area.
Officials said about 77,000 passes are issued annually and spectators have been urged to rely on metro services wherever possible.
