Kolkata: The Election Commission plans to retain 700 companies of central forces in West Bengal after the polls are over on April 29.
Out of this a total of 500 companies are earmarked exclusively for law and order duties.
These 500 companies consist of 200 companies of CRPF, 150 companies of BSF, 50 companies of CISF, 50 companies of ITBP and 50 companies of SSB.
This deployment anticipates possible post-poll violence, retaliatory clashes, intimidation and other disturbances.
In addition, 200 companies of central forces will focus on EVM, strong room and counting center security till the counting gets officially over.
The forces will use various gadgets for vigil including 2 lakh webcam during polls, body cameras, 360 degree rotating cameras, robot dogs and drones.
Already 480 companies of central forces are already in West Bengal with another 300 companies expected by March 31.
These include 125 companies of CRPF and 100 companies of BSF.
By April 10 another 600 companies will come while am additional 300 companies will come from state armed police of Bihar, MP and UP. Each state will provide 40 companies of armed police.
In total there will be 2400 companies deployed for the elections.
