New Delhi: Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman launched ‘PRARAMBH 2026,’ a nationwide awareness campaign by the Income Tax Department.
The campaign aims to educate citizens about the key provisions of the New Income Tax Act, 2025, which will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
Designed as a multimedia outreach initiative, the campaign will run across print, radio, television, outdoor platforms, and digital and social media. It focuses on building awareness and ensuring taxpayers understand the new law and its implications.

Focus on Taxpayer Education and Engagement
As part of the initiative, the department will release guidance materials such as notes, tutorial videos, and brochures. Public engagement will also be driven through digital platforms and on-ground activities, including the MyGov Quiz, to encourage wider participation and understanding.

Launch of New Income Tax Website
During the event, the Finance Minister also inaugurated the Income Tax Website 2.0. The upgraded platform offers improved usability, simpler navigation, and faster service delivery, marking a step forward in the department’s digital transformation efforts.
AI Chatbot ‘Kar Saathi’ Introduced
Ravi Agrawal, Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes, announced the launch of ‘Kar Saathi,’ an AI-enabled chatbot designed to assist taxpayers with queries related to the new Act, rules, and forms. He noted that support will also continue through Aaykar Seva Kendras, ensuring accessible and citizen-friendly services.
