New Delhi, Apr 27, (APAC Media): IAS Prashant Kumar Mishra has been appointed as Private Secretary (PS) to Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil.
The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and will be at the Deputy Secretary level in the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, Mishra’s tenure will extend up to March 15, 2031, subject to standard conditions.
His term will remain co-terminus with the minister, or until he ceases to function in the role, or until further orders are issued, whichever comes first. To take up this position, his current role as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the same minister has been curtailed. He had assumed that charge only recently, on March 15, 2026.
A 2014-batch IAS officer, Mishra brings diverse administrative experience. He has served as Deputy Commissioner of Ballari district in Karnataka and as Director (Personnel) at the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation in Bengaluru. His work has spanned governance, personnel administration, and policy execution.
In his new role, Mishra will assist in policy coordination, administrative management, and decision-making within the ministry. His appointment comes as the government continues to prioritise water conservation, river rejuvenation, and infrastructure development across the country.
