New Delhi, May 21 (APAC Media): In a significant administrative development, IAS Priyank Bharti has assumed charge as the Director General (DG) of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) today.
He is a 2001-batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre.Â
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) appointed Bharti as the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) earlier. He will serve as the DG of NIC in an additional capacity.Â
As the additional secretary at MeitY, Bharti will contribute to key domains, including digital infrastructure policy, technology governance, e-governance initiatives, digital public service delivery, technology innovation frameworks, and digital transformation programmes.
Furthermore, in his additional role as DG of NIC, Bharti will oversee critical government digital infrastructure and IT systems supporting central and state-level governance operations.
Bharti previously served as the Administrative Secretary in the Department of Science, Technology, and Environment, Punjab. Throughout his career, he has held various positions, including Secretary, Senior Directing Staff, Joint Secretary, Director, Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Punjab.
The new appointments place Bharti in significant leadership positions within India’s digital governance and technology infrastructure ecosystem.
