Noida, June 29 (APAC Media): The Delhi government on Monday approved a new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy, offering a 100 per cent exemption on road tax and registration fees for electric cars priced up to Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) and announcing a series of incentives aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric mobility in the national capital.
Under the policy, all electric cars with an ex-showroom price of Rs 30 lakh or less registered in Delhi will be exempt from road tax and registration charges.
The government has also announced purchase incentives for electric two-wheelers. Buyers will receive a subsidy of Rs 30,000 during the first year of the policy, Rs 20,000 in the second year and Rs 10,000 in the third year.

As part of its phased transition towards cleaner transportation, the Delhi government said that only electric autorickshaws will be registered in the city from January 1, 2027.
The registration of new petrol and CNG-powered two-wheelers will be discontinued from April 1, 2028, after which only electric two-wheelers will be eligible for registration in the national capital.

“We have approved a new EV Policy under which around Rs 15,000 crore will be invested over the next four years to promote electric mobility in Delhi,” Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said.
“The policy is aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles, strengthening the EV ecosystem and reducing vehicular pollution in the national capital,” she said.
The policy seeks to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, expand charging infrastructure and reduce emissions from the transport sector, a major contributor to air pollution in the national capital.
