New Delhi, June 29(APAC Media): Maruti Suzuki is sharpening its focus on artificial intelligence and electric vehicle sustainability through its latest startup partnerships.
The country’s largest carmaker has selected five startups under the fifth cohort of the Maruti Suzuki Incubation Program (MSIP), run with NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore. While four startups are working on AI-based solutions, one focuses on recycling end-of-life EV batteries, highlighting the company’s technology priorities as it prepares for the next phase of mobility.
The selected startups include Sarvam AI, Easework AI, Siftly, CodeMate AI and MiniMines. Maruti Suzuki plans to use AI to improve customer interactions, automate procurement processes, strengthen its presence on AI-powered search platforms and accelerate software development for internal business applications.
Sarvam AI will support multilingual customer engagement through GenAI agents, while Easework AI will automate procurement workflows. Siftly’s technology aims to improve Maruti Suzuki’s visibility on AI-driven search platforms such as ChatGPT and Perplexity. CodeMate AI will help software teams speed up coding, testing and debugging.
Unlike the AI-focused startups, MiniMines addresses a different challenge. The startup recovers valuable metals from used EV batteries, helping manage battery waste as electric vehicle adoption grows in India. The move signals Maruti Suzuki’s efforts to build capabilities around the complete EV lifecycle, including battery recycling and resource recovery.
Maruti Suzuki said it has screened around 7,400 startups over the past seven years, engaged with more than 250 and onboarded 38 as business partners through its innovation programmes. The latest cohort reflects the company’s growing investment in AI-led automation alongside long-term preparations for EV battery sustainability.
