Noida, June 15 (APAC Media): IndiGo on Monday commenced operations as the launch carrier at Noida International Airport in Jewar, marking a key milestone in the development of the Delhi-NCR aviation network.
The historic day began with the first arrival at Noida International Airport, as an IndiGo flight from Lucknow landed early in the morning, followed shortly by the inaugural departure to Bengaluru.
With this launch, the National Capital Region (NCR) joins a select group of global megacities operating multiple commercial airports. IndiGo now serves three airports in the region: Indira Gandhi International Airport, Hindon Airport, and the newly opened Noida International Airport.
Expanding Regional Connectivity
Strategically located along the Yamuna Motorway, Noida International Airport is being positioned as a major aviation and logistics hub for western Uttar Pradesh and the wider Delhi-NCR region.
IndiGo plans to rapidly scale operations from the airport, connecting it to more than 16 destinations across India.
The expansion will also enable one-stop connectivity across 14 city pairs, aimed at improving links between tier-2 and tier-3 cities and major metropolitan centres.
Notable routes under the network plan include:
- Amritsar to Jodhpur
- Chandigarh to Bareilly
- Kishangarh to Bhopal
- Jaipur to Dharamshala
The commencement of operations is being seen as a significant strategic milestone for both IndiGo and the leadership of Noida International Airport, with officials expressing optimism over its potential economic and regional impact.
