Ahmedabad, June 15 (APAC Media): The Gujarat Government is all set to launch its much-anticipated Industrial Policy 2026, with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel scheduled to launch the policy at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
The policy is expected to provide a comprehensive framework for accelerating industrial growth, attracting investments, promoting innovation, generating employment and reinforcing Gujarat’s position as one of India’s leading industrial and investment destinations.
Ease of Doing Business
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the new policy will build on Gujarat’s long-standing reputation for investor-friendly governance and industrial development.
Key focus areas are expected to include improving ease of doing business, strengthening advanced manufacturing, supporting MSMEs, encouraging technology adoption, and attracting investments in emerging and high-growth sectors.
New ‘Ultra Mega Industries’ Category Likely to Be Introduced
One of the major highlights of the upcoming policy is the proposed introduction of a new category called ‘Ultra Mega Industries’.
As per draft policy details reported earlier, industrial projects in priority sectors with investments of at least Rs 10,000 crore and employment generation of a minimum of 3,000 people may qualify under this category.
The draft also proposes that every additional investment of Rs 5,000 crore would require the creation of at least 500 more jobs.
Currently, projects involving investments exceeding Rs 10,000 crore are classified as ‘Mega Industries’ and are eligible for customised incentives under the Atmanirbhar Gujarat scheme.
The proposed Industrial Policy 2026 seeks to create a distinct category for larger investments and enable more targeted policy support and incentives for high-impact projects.
Hexaware Opens in GIFT City
Ahead of the policy launch, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated Hexaware Technologies’ new Delivery Centre at GIFT City in Gandhinagar.
Hexaware Technologies, a global provider of digital and technology services, serves sectors including banking, financial services, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, retail, and transportation.
According to officials, the new facility has the potential to generate nearly 1,000 highly skilled employment opportunities over the next three years.
