New Delhi, June 6(CXO Media): Pinterest has signed a $4 billion cloud services agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to expand its infrastructure for artificial intelligence and data-heavy workloads. The deal will run through 2031 and strengthens Pinterest’s long-standing dependence on AWS for its core technology systems.
Under the agreement, Pinterest will use Amazon’s custom-built chips, including Graviton and Trainium, to improve processing efficiency for machine learning and AI-driven features. These systems are expected to support tools used in visual search, content recommendations, and ad targeting on the platform. The company said the upgraded infrastructure will help it manage large-scale AI models and reduce operational costs linked to cloud computing.
Pinterest has been increasing its focus on artificial intelligence to improve user discovery and advertising performance as competition grows in the social media and digital commerce space. The platform has relied on AWS since 2010, but the latest agreement marks a significant expansion of that relationship as it shifts more workloads toward AI-based systems.
