New Delhi, June 6 (APAC Media): The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, has signed two key agreements aimed at enhancing the quality of education and governance across the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) network.
The first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission, which functions under the state’s Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department.Â
This partnership seeks to strengthen coordination in the planning, establishment, and monitoring of EMRS schools across Bihar.
Empowering EMRS Classrooms with AI-Driven Innovation

Under the agreement, Bihar will receive financial assistance of Rs 1.47 lakh per student under the EMRS scheme, bringing the state at par with other regions that have entered into similar contracts with NESTS.Â
The recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff will be conducted through a centralised mechanism to ensure transparency and proper standards across schools.
Officials said the MoU also provides for the adoption of a common academic framework based on the NCERT curriculum and aligned with CBSE standards.Â
AI-Powered Learning Support for Tribal Students
In a separate initiative, NESTS signed an agreement with education technology company CoGrad (Supervision Educare Private Limited) to introduce artificial intelligence-enabled academic support across the EMRS ecosystem.
The collaboration is expected to benefit more than 1.5 lakh tribal students and support over 9,000 teachers working across 499 operational EMRSs nationwide.
As part of the partnership, CoGrad will provide free access for two years to a customised version of its educator-focused platform, Medha AI, and conduct training programmes for teachers, principals, and academic administrators.
Medha AI seeks to offer various AI powered tools such as automated quiz for assessments, support for lesson planning, creation of 3D models, and generating resources for teacher learning.Â
According to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the initiative is aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the government’s broader vision of integrating technology into education.
