New Delhi, September 21 (APAC Media): The Delhi Government has launched heritage clubs in 75 CM-Sri government schools to help students explore the capital’s history, culture and architectural heritage beyond textbooks.
Jointly initiated by the Department of Art, Culture and Language and Delhi Archives, the programme will introduce students to heritage through walks, museum and archive visits, digital storytelling, traditional arts, cultural activities and heritage festivals.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
The initiative aims to give students first-hand exposure to Delhi’s historical sites and cultural traditions while encouraging greater awareness of the need to preserve the city’s heritage.
At the launch, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the importance of helping students understand their connection with Delhi’s history and surroundings. She said the programme would also bring lesser-known aspects of the city’s heritage to students.
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood said the initiative reflects the government’s focus on education, art, culture and heritage, while Culture and Language Minister Kapil Mishra said students should explore historical and cultural sites beyond the city’s best-known landmarks.
The clubs will cover themes including Delhi’s historical development, freedom movement, important personalities, traditional art forms and local heritage.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader focus on improving learning opportunities and creating an environment where students can engage with education beyond conventional classroom teaching.
