New Delhi, June 5 (APAC Media): Marking World Environment Day, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta jointly inaugurated 18 Namo Oxygen Parks from Maidangarhi in South Delhi, with an aim to improve environment sustainability in the capital. Â
The initiative is aimed at enhancing urban greenery, improving air quality, and encouraging greater public participation in environmental conservation activities across the city.
As part of the programme, both leaders also participated in a tree plantation drive and planted saplings to promote ecological awareness.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the Delhi Government’s commitment to environmental protection, noting that 21 per cent of the state’s budget has been earmarked for green initiatives this year.
She said the government has set a target of planting 15 lakh saplings during the current financial year. The Chief Minister further added that the focus extends beyond plantation drives to ensuring the long-term protection and survival of trees.
The event also saw the release of three key documents, including the Working Plan Document for the National Capital Territory of Delhi (2026–27 to 2036–37).Â
The document outlines a decade-long roadmap for environmental governance, conservation efforts, and sustainable development in the capital.
Officials said the framework is expected to guide Delhi’s environmental planning and green growth strategy over the next ten years.
