New Delhi, July 1 (APAC Media): In a recent bureaucratic change, IAS Vineet Joshi, Secretary, Department of Higher Education has been assigned the additional charge of Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy following the superannuation of Sanjay Kumar.
The appointment was notified by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions through an order issued on June 30.
Sanjay Kumar had been serving as Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy since 2022, while Vineet Joshi assumed charge as Secretary, Department of Higher Education in 2025.
A 1992-batch IAS officer, Joshi has previously served as Chairman of the CBSE. He has also held the position of Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and oversaw the Institutes of Eminence (IoE) initiative and the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA).
Joshi is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from IIT Kanpur and holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT).
