Noida, July 1 (APAC Media): India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections increased 13.9% year-on-year to Rs 1,94,812 crore in June, recording the fastest annual growth in 13 months, according to provisional government data released on Wednesday.
The collections were up from Rs 171,105 crore in June 2025, supported by higher tax receipts from both domestic transactions and imports.
GST revenue from imports grew at a faster pace than domestic collections, contributing significantly to the overall increase.
Gross Central GST (CGST) stood at Rs 36,459 crore, while State GST (SGST) collections were Rs 46,599 crore. Integrated GST (IGST), including taxes collected on imports, amounted to Rs 99,379 crore, and cess collections were Rs 12,376 crore during the month.
The government issued GST refunds of Rs 25,491 crore in June, an increase of 28.4% from a year earlier. After adjusting for refunds, net GST revenue rose 20.4% year-on-year to Rs 1,69,385 crore.

During the April-June quarter of FY2026-27, gross GST collections totalled Rs 5.31 lakh crore, up 8.4% from the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
Net collections for the quarter also registered healthy growth after accounting for refunds.
State-wise, several large manufacturing and consumption centres reported higher GST collections, led by Maharashtra in absolute terms.
Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Punjab were among the states posting strong annual growth, while some states recorded slower growth or declines compared with the same month last year.

GST, implemented in July 2017, is India’s unified indirect tax system that replaced multiple central and state levies. Monthly GST collections are widely monitored as an indicator of consumption, business activity and tax compliance.
The latest figures indicate continued strength in indirect tax revenues, supported by economic activity, compliance measures and higher import-related tax collections.
Analysts said sustained GST growth could help strengthen government finances while supporting public expenditure during the current fiscal year.
