Ranchi, July 17 (APAC Media): Jharkhand railway network is set for a major upgrade after the Centre approved two railway infrastructure projects worth around ₹3,907 crore.
The projects will strengthen connectivity with neighbouring Odisha while expanding capacity on two of the region’s busiest rail corridors.
The approved works include the doubling of the Paradip – Haridaspur railway line and the construction of a fourth rail line between Rajkharsawan and Dangoaposi.
Both routes play a crucial role in transporting minerals and industrial goods from eastern India.
The Union Cabinet’s approval of the Paradeep–Haridaspur railway line doubling project marks another significant milestone in strengthening Odisha’s railway infrastructure, enhancing logistics efficiency, and accelerating the state’s industrial and economic growth.

Rail Capacity to Get a Major Boost
The Rajkharsawan–Dangoaposi fourth line will expand capacity on a busy route used for transporting minerals and industrial goods.
The additional line is expected to reduce congestion, improve train movement and support industries linked to mining, steel and manufacturing in Jharkhand and Odisha.
The Paradip – Haridaspur line doubling will further strengthen connectivity to Paradip Port, allowing faster movement of freight and improving logistics for industries dependent on the eastern coast.
According to officials, the two projects will benefit more than 14 lakh people across 1,526 villages in Jharkhand and Odisha.
Sanjay Seth Welcomes Cabinet Approval
Union Minister of State for Defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth welcomed the Cabinet’s decision.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the projects.
He said the new rail infrastructure will improve connectivity, strengthen logistics and support industrial growth across the region.
Seth said the projects reflect the Centre’s continued focus on modernising Indian Railways through capacity expansion and better infrastructure.
He added that Jharkhand has witnessed steady railway development in recent years through station redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, improved passenger amenities and expansion of rail infrastructure.
Boost for Regional Economy
The new railway projects are expected to improve connectivity between Jharkhand and Odisha while supporting industries, trade and logistics.
With higher rail capacity and better freight movement, the projects are also likely to generate employment and contribute to the region’s long-term economic growth.
