New Delhi, July 17 (APAC Media): Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has placed a major order for composite LPG cylinders.Â
The move is aimed at modernising India’s LPG supply chain. It also signals a shift toward safer, lighter cylinder technology for households across the country.
Order Details
Time Technoplast Limited has bagged the contract from HPCL through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). The order covers supply of 1,40,000 units of 10 kg Type IV Composite LPG Cylinders, valued at approximately Rs. 38.14 crore. The delivery is expected to be completed within six months.
Why Composite Cylinders Matter
Composite cylinders have been gaining traction over conventional steel cylinders because they are lighter, resistant to rust, and considered safer for everyday handling. For many households, particularly those with women and elderly members managing kitchen refills, the lighter build is expected to make day-to-day handling noticeably easier.
A Push Toward Faster, Easier Delivery
Alongside the order, HPCL has rolled out an on-demand delivery system for composite cylinders through quick-commerce platforms, aiming to make LPG refills more accessible than the traditional booking-and-wait model.
Reading the Bigger Picture
The order comes at a time when oil marketing companies are increasingly experimenting with customer-first solutions, from delivery innovation to material upgrades. For Time Technoplast, the contract reinforces its position in the composite cylinder manufacturing space and adds momentum to the broader push for safer packaging technology in India’s energy sector.
