Neyveli, July 16 (APAC Media): NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has entered into an MOU with IIT Kanpur.
The MoU has been signed for the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and overall digital transformation.
The MoU was signed by the top management of both organisations in the Corporate Office of NLCIL.
Senior Officials Present at the Signing
The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines), NLCIL; Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, Director (Finance), NLCIL (through video conference); Samir Swarup, Director (HR), NLCIL; Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia, Director (Planning & Projects) and Director (Power) (Additional Charge), NLCIL; and senior officials of NLCIL.
Representatives from IIT Kanpur also joined the proceedings through video conference.Â
Focus Areas Under the Collaboration
The partnership will focus on AI and ML applications, joint research and development initiatives, and structured knowledge exchange between industry and academia. It also includes capacity-building and skill-development programmes for NLCIL’s workforce, along with the adoption of data-driven solutions to strengthen decision-making across the organisation.
A Component of an Overall Digital Transformation Drive
The partnership is being formed amid the efforts by NLCIL to upgrade itself and develop its technological competency for the long term. With the help of the technical expertise at IIT Kanpur, the objective is to enhance efficiency, streamline decision-making, and equip staff with technological skills.
Follows Recent Expansion Moves
The MoU has been signed just after the Joint Venture Agreement of NLCIL with NALCO for the construction of a 1,080 MW captive thermal power plant in the Angul district of Odisha state, indicating an era of simultaneous development for the company.
NLC India Limited is a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, involved in mining operations, thermal power generation, and renewable energy projects, including substantial work in lignite mining and power generation for India.
