New Delhi, July 27 (APAC Media): The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), in collaboration with GIZ Germany, has collaborated with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) to advance industrial decarbonisation and support India’s transition towards a low-carbon economy.
The partnership comes under the India-Sweden Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) partnership. This will focus on green skilling, sustainability strategies and technology-driven solutions for Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs).
Around 40 senior officials from various PSEs participated in the inaugural programme.
Focus on Low-Carbon Industrial Growth
The programme served as a platform for knowledge sharing on practical approaches to industrial decarbonisation and climate-resilient growth.
Key areas of discussion included:
- Low-carbon industrial transformation
- Net-zero strategies for industries
- Emission reduction technologies
- Sustainable energy practices
- Climate-resilient industrial development
Experts from MoEFCC and the LeadIT Secretariat conducted technical sessions highlighting policy frameworks and practical measures to help industries adopt cleaner and more sustainable operations.
Industry Leaders Share Best Practices
Representatives from MoEFCC, GIZ, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Volvo shared their experiences and insights on sustainable industrial practices.
The discussions covered renewable energy adoption, industrial sustainability initiatives, green technologies and transport sector decarbonisation.
Volvo also showcased technological solutions aimed at reducing emissions and promoting sustainable mobility.
Sustainability Visit to BEL
Participants also visited Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to observe the organisation’s sustainability initiatives firsthand.
The visit highlighted BEL’s:
- Net-zero roadmap
- Renewable energy initiatives
- Resource optimisation practices
- Climate-friendly industrial technologies
Officials also toured the rejuvenated Doddabommasandra Lake, where BEL demonstrated successful efforts in water conservation, biodiversity restoration and environmental sustainability.
LeadIT Partnership Supports Net-Zero Transition
The workshop formed part of the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT), an India-Sweden initiative that promotes collaboration on industrial decarbonisation.
The partnership focuses on accelerating clean technology adoption, reducing industrial emissions, encouraging sustainable manufacturing and facilitating knowledge exchange among stakeholders.
SCOPE to Continue Green Capacity Building
SCOPE said it will continue organising capacity-building programmes aimed at strengthening green skills and promoting sustainable business practices across public sector enterprises.
The organisation noted that such initiatives will help build awareness, encourage collaboration and support India’s long-term climate and sustainability goals.
