Noida, July 7 (APAC Media): Indian benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Tuesday, snapping a four-session winning streak, as profit booking and a rise in crude oil prices following fresh tensions between the United States and Iran weighed on investor sentiment.
The BSE Sensex declined 104 points, or 0.13%, to close at 78,180.72, while the NSE Nifty 50 fell 32 points, or 0.13%, to settle at 24,398.70.
Broader markets also ended in the red, with the Nifty Midcap 100 index slipping 0.30% and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index losing 0.55%.

The weakness eroded investor wealth, with the market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies falling below ₹480 lakh crore from ₹482.3 lakh crore in the previous session. The decline wiped out more than ₹2 lakh crore in investor wealth in a single trading session.
Broader markets also ended lower, with the Nifty Midcap 100 losing 0.30% and the Nifty Smallcap 100 falling 0.55%, reflecting weakness across the broader market.
Investor sentiment remained subdued as higher crude oil prices, driven by renewed geopolitical tensions in West Asia, raised concerns over inflation and India’s import bill.
The rise in oil prices prompted traders to lock in gains after the recent market rally.
