New Delhi, July 7 (APAC Media): The Central Government has assigned additional responsibilities to IAS V. Vidyavathi and senior media administrator Yogesh Kumar Baweja.
This has been done to ensure the smooth functioning of key departments and public broadcasting institutions during the temporary absence of incumbent officials.
IAS V. Vidyavathi Gets Additional Social Justice Charge
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday, IAS V. Vidyavathi has been entrusted with the additional charge of Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment.
She will hold the additional responsibility from July 8 to July 25, 2026, during the absence of IAS Sudhanshu Pant, the department’s regular Secretary.
Vidyavathi is currently serving as Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
The temporary arrangement has been made to ensure uninterrupted functioning of both departments.
Over Three Decades of Administrative Experience
A 1991-batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre, Vidyavathi has more than three decades of administrative experience in both the Karnataka Government and the Centre.
She has served in several senior positions, including Secretary, Director General, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister, Joint Secretary, Director, Deputy Secretary, Chief Executive Officer, and Assistant Commissioner.
She is widely regarded for her experience in social welfare, disability empowerment, and public administration.
Yogesh Kumar Baweja to Head Akashvani & Doordarshan
In another key administrative decision, Yogesh Kumar Baweja, currently serving as Press Registrar General of India (PRGI), has been given the additional charge of Director General, Akashvani and Director General, Doordarshan.
The order was issued by Prasar Bharati on July 3, 2026.
Baweja is already serving as Director General (News), News Services Division (NSD), Akashvani. With the latest assignment, he will oversee the functioning of India’s two public broadcasters.
According to the order, he will discharge the additional responsibilities from July 4 to August 9, 2026, during the ex-India leave of Rajeev Kumar Jain, Director General, NSD, Akashvani.
He will continue to perform his existing duties while overseeing the administrative and operational functioning of both Akashvani and Doordarshan until Jain resumes charge.
