Bhopal, July 7 (APAC Media): The Madhya Pradesh Government has signed a ₹7,430 crore investment agreement with a leading Kuwait-based fisheries company to boost the state’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.
It was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and is expected to increase fish production, strengthen exports, and generate employment opportunities across the state.
The investment has been signed under the Madhya Pradesh Integrated Fisheries Industry Policy 2026, which aims to attract global investment and modernise the state’s fisheries sector.
The agreement is between Zabedi Al Kuwait Fisheries Company and Kamdar’s Care, Indore, a cluster-based organisation working with farmer producer groups and agri-businesses.
Officials said the partnership marks a major step towards strengthening international collaboration in Madhya Pradesh’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.
Under the agreement, fisheries infrastructure will be developed across major reservoirs in the state, including:
- Indira Sagar Reservoir
- Bargi Reservoir
- Bansagar Reservoir
- Barna Reservoir
The project will focus on expanding cage culture and creating strong backward and forward linkages to support large-scale fish production and an efficient supply chain.2
The project is expected to significantly increase production in the fisheries and allied agriculture sectors.
Key targets include:
- Around 4 lakh tonnes of additional fish production through cage culture
- About 1.23 lakh tonnes of vegetables using aquaponics, hydroponics, and greenhouse farming
The integrated approach aims to promote sustainable farming while strengthening the state’s fisheries ecosystem.
The Madhya Pradesh Government has set a target of around ₹6,000 crore in fisheries exports under the project.
Officials said the initiative will strengthen the state’s presence in global seafood markets while boosting value-added processing and export infrastructure.
The project is also expected to create significant employment opportunities across the state.
It is projected to generate:
- 15,000 direct jobs
- 20,000 indirect jobs
- Around 35,000 employment opportunities in total
The government said the initiative will benefit fishing communities and strengthen livelihoods in rural areas dependent on aquaculture.
Officials said the agreement is expected to position Madhya Pradesh as a major hub for fisheries investment and exports in India.
Zabedi Al Kuwait Fisheries Company has operations in more than 10 countries and is engaged in seafood, premium food products, canned goods, and spices.
Kamdar’s Care, Indore works with Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and supports agribusiness development. It has also been recognised under the Startup India initiative.
