Bathinda, August 5 (APAC Media): The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indore, to strengthen healthcare innovation through collaborative research and medical technology development.Â
The partnership seeks to combine clinical expertise with engineering excellence to create affordable, patient-centric healthcare solutions.
The MoU was signed under the leadership of Dr. Ratan Gupta, Executive Director of AIIMS Bathinda, and Prof Suhas Joshi, Director of IIT Indore. The collaboration is expected to establish a long-term framework for interdisciplinary research, innovation, and technology development by leveraging the strengths of both institutions.
Focus on research, innovation, and technology translation
Under the agreement, AIIMS Bathinda and IIT Indore will jointly undertake interdisciplinary research, medical technology innovation, technology translation, and capacity-building initiatives. The partnership will also promote prototype development, intellectual property (IP) generation, technology commercialisation, and faculty- and student-exchange programmes.
Officials said the collaboration aims to address real-world healthcare challenges by bringing together doctors, researchers, and engineers to develop innovative diagnostic tools, medical devices, and digital health solutions. The initiative is expected to improve patient care while making advanced healthcare technologies more accessible and affordable.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ratan Gupta emphasised the importance of stronger collaboration between clinicians, researchers, and engineers to develop cost-effective healthcare technologies. Prof. Suhas Joshi reaffirmed IIT Indore’s commitment to supporting healthcare innovation through interdisciplinary research and knowledge sharing.
The partnership marks a significant step toward fostering innovation in India’s healthcare sector, with both institutions aiming to translate research into practical solutions that can benefit patients and strengthen the country’s medical technology ecosystem.
