New Delhi, July 31 (APAC Media): The Ministry of Ayush and IndiaAI, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the Ayush sector.Â
The collaboration aims to strengthen research, improve healthcare delivery, and build a technology-enabled ecosystem by combining traditional knowledge with advanced AI capabilities.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Kavita Jain, Joint Secretary and Chief Vigilance Officer, Ministry of Ayush, and Shri Sudeep Srivastava, Chief Operating Officer, IndiaAI Mission and Joint Secretary, MeitY, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
AI to Strengthen the Ayush Ecosystem
Speaking on the partnership, Dr. Kavita Jain said the collaboration will enable the Ministry of Ayush to leverage AI in critical areas such as research, medicinal plants, drug administration, and capacity building. She noted that the initiative will help make the Ayush ecosystem more technology-driven, efficient, and future-ready.
Sudeep Srivastava described the MoU as a significant step towards enriching the AIKosh platform with traditional healthcare datasets. He added that AI-enabled innovation would empower researchers and practitioners working in traditional medicinal sciences.
Focus on Data, Infrastructure, and Innovation
As part of the partnership, the Ministry of Ayush will onboard the AIKosh platform to share eligible health research artifacts, including datasets, metadata, AI models, toolkits, and relevant use cases. The collaboration is expected to encourage responsible AI development and greater research collaboration.
The MoU also provides the ministry access to GPU-based and high-performance computing infrastructure through the IndiaAI initiative at subsidised rates, subject to defined service-level agreements. This enhanced computing capacity will support advanced AI research and applications, helping scale innovation across the Ayush sector while promoting the integration of traditional healthcare with modern digital technologies.
