Gold is traditionally viewed as a safe-haven asset during periods of economic and geopolitical uncertainty.
However, prices can also be influenced by movements in the US dollar, interest-rate expectations, global bond yields and investor demand.
Retail bullion prices may differ across cities and jewellers due to variations in local taxes, premiums, making charges and other costs. Consumers are therefore advised to check the prevailing rate and applicable charges before purchasing gold or silver.
The rates mentioned are indicative retail prices and may change during the day depending on movements in domestic and international bullion markets.
