Kolkata: She was facilitating migrant workers homecoming till a month back in a district. But couldn’t see her own fate. Debdatta Ray (38), Deputy Magistrate of Hooghly district in West Bengal died on Monday. She was tested corona positive recently and was fighting the virus.
The young West Bengal Civil Services ( WBCS) officer of 2010 batch was posted in the district and was in charge of the transit camp in Dankuni which was set up for the returning migrant workers of the state. She was unwell for last 7-10 days after testing corona positive.
She has left her husband and 4 year old daughter. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed her condolences. ‘ We salute her spirit & sacrifice made by her for the service of the people of Bengal.’
Recently 2 civic body officers have also died in Mumbai after being infected by the corona virus.
