Nagpur: A Nagpur company which makes weapons for the Indian military has faced a cyberattack and now the company’s sensitive data is online for sale. The breach was confirmed at Solar Industries India Limited, by a researcher at Bengaluru-based cybersecurity firm CloudSEK which keeps an eye on cybersecurity incidents.
“This leaked information poses a threat to the confidentiality of the weaponry used by the Indian military which can be misused by motivated adversaries for gaining a strategic advantage against India,” said the CloudSEK researcher.
The hacking attack on the server of Solar Industries India Limited, a top manufacturer of defence equipment, ammunition and explosives, took place on January 21 and a case was registered with Nagpur cyber police station on January 25.
Not only the Nagpur Police, but all the security agencies of the country are on the job due to the cyber attack on the Solar Group, which manufactures various explosives and defense products. It is said that the team of a dozen departments of the center has reached Nagpur for investigation. Being a matter related to the defense sector, the matter is being investigated in a confidential manner.
