Bhopal: A water treatment plant in Bhopal is to get a wash water recycling system installed soon, according to Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) city engineer Udit Garg. The 50 MLD Manuabhan Tekri water treatment plant will be able to utilise around 5% of its wash water which would otherwise be wasted.
A Similar facility was first introduced in Bhopal with the Narmada water supply project and later replicated at Idgah Hills water pumping station. Topographical and geo technical survey, ahead of construction of the wash water recycling system is awaited.
The system is to have a capacity of approximately 3 MLD for reuse of waste water which is produced during the water treatment process at the existing 50 MLD WTP (Manuabhan Tekri water treatment plant), an official said.
The 50 MLD water treatment plant was constructed under AMRUT scheme for treatment of raw water at Manuabhan Tekri. Water is being supplied to four of 19 BMC zones. It includes Zone 1, 2, 16, 17 along with Acharpura area. Reuse and recirculation system for reuse of waste water is the main component of the project. Once functional the wash water recycle pumps are to run for 20 hours operation cycle with a capacity of 200 cum/hr each.
The project costing close to Rs 80 lakh is expected to be completed in six months.
