Noida, Apr 30 (APAC Media): Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently checked on the availability, printing, and distribution of textbooks published by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
The purpose of the review was to ensure the timely supply of textbooks for the ongoing academic session and to closely monitor their final delivery, particularly in rural regions, Pradhan said to the officials.
According to an official statement from the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed the availability, printing, and distribution of NCERT textbooks for the ongoing academic year. The review was aimed at ensuring that textbooks are delivered as planned.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar, who is the Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, along with other senior officials from the Ministry of Education and NCERT, also participated in the meeting.
“Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed the preparedness of upcoming NCERT textbooks and assessed their availability across states and Union Territories. He also evaluated coordination with state authorities and distribution networks to ensure timely delivery of textbooks, with a special focus on rural areas,” the ministry said.
He also added that no student should face any problems because of delays in the release of NCERT textbooks. Pradhan instructed officials to improve supply chains, increase printing capacity where needed, and closely monitor the final delivery process.
Additionally, he urged officials to encourage students and teachers to use digital textbooks available on the e-Pathshala platform. These resources can be used temporarily if physical copies of textbooks do not reach all students.
This follows a recent announcement by NCERT on the X platform informing students that soft copies of Class 9 textbooks are available on its website. Students were advised to download subject specific books if printed copies are not available in their area.
