Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The administrator of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC), G Sreekanth, has asked civic officials to soon prepare a Comprehensive Disaster Management Programme (CDMP) for the city.
Some areas, especially within old city limits, witnessed flash floods during the past few years’ monsoon seasons.
“The administrator has asked for zone-wise rainfall distribution and to identify zones vulnerable to calamities after heavy rain. A detailed analysis of data will be used to draft the CDMP,” an official release by the civic body said.
Considered an integrated approach to disaster management, the CDMP is expected to enable the CSMC to plan preventive and mitigating measures with a rehabilitation plan in case of any natural disaster.
Officials were also asked to complete all nullah-cleaning activities by the end of May. “While the cleaning has already started ahead of the rains, the administrator has asked for more manpower. All zonal authorities are to carry out the work in two shifts for 16 hours a day,” an official said.
