New Delhi: The Finance Ministry has convened a high-level meeting scheduled for Tuesday, bringing together senior bankers and representatives from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to address the surge in digital payment fraud and increasing concerns regarding cybersecurity.
Chaired by the Financial Services Secretary, the meeting aims to delve into issues surrounding financial cybersecurity and the growing instances of digital payment fraud, according to official sources.
Key participants include senior officials from the Department of Economic Affairs, Department of Revenue, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, and the National Payments Corporation of India.
The gathering gains significance against the backdrop of recent digital fraud incidents affecting several banks.
The meeting will feature a presentation by the Indian Cyber Crime Co-ordination Centre, sharing the latest statistics on digital payment fraud reported in the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), along with the challenges faced in countering such issues.
