New Delhi: The Union government recently approved the re-employment of senior IAS Sunil Kumar Gupta as Secretary to the Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar. Despite reaching the retirement age on December 31, 2023, Gupta’s tenure was extended through this re-employment. He belongs to the 1987-batch from the West Bengal cadre.
The decision entails IAS Sunil Kumar Gupta appointment on a contract basis effective from January 1, 2024. His role will be in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India, aligning with the co-terminus basis of the tenure of the Vice President of India.
Gupta was initially appointed to the position on August 17, 2022, while serving in his home cadre of West Bengal. He has had a longstanding professional association with Dhankhar, dating back during his tenure as the Governor of West Bengal.
