New Delhi: Former IPS officer Sheel Vardhan Singh officially took oath of Office and Secrecy as Member, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The swearing-in ceremony took place in the Central Hall of the UPSC’s Main Building, where UPSC Chairman Dr Manoj Soni administered the oath of Office and Secrecy.
Singh served as the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) from November 2021 to December 2023. He played a pivotal role in intelligence gathering, analysis, and the formulation of national security policies. His efforts also bolstered India’s international security posture during his posting at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
Singh received the President Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2004 and the Presidents Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2010. A graduate in English Honours, he completed the prestigious West Yorkshire Command Course in the UK and the National Defence College in India.
Additionally, he is an accomplished author with two volumes of short stories to his name and regularly contributes to the ‘Speaking Tree’ column in The Times of India. His podcast, ‘The Dialogue Within,’ offers unique perspectives on life and living.
Singh is an avid sportsman, passionate about literature and cultural exploration, and a dedicated practitioner of yoga.
