New Delhi: NTPC Limited has secured a Land Lease Agreement for setting up the country’s largest green hydrogen production facility. The agreement, signed between NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) paves the way for the development of an “Integrated Green Hydrogen Hub” in Andhra Pradesh.
The hub, spanning 1,200 acres near Pudimadaka village in Visakhapatnam, aims to foster a cutting-edge ecosystem for emerging energy technologies. It will house facilities for electrolysed and fuel cell manufacturing, alongside ancillary industries, startup incubation centres, and testing facilities. The focus will be on the production and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives like green ammonia and green methanol.
Central to the project is the construction of India’s largest green hydrogen production facility, capable of producing 1,200 tons per day. This facility will enable the conversion of green hydrogen into derivatives, primarily targeting export markets.
The Land Lease Deed was exchanged between NGEL and APIIC officials at the Government of Andhra Pradesh Secretariat in Amravati. Present at the ceremony were dignitaries including the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, KS Jawahar Reddy, and NTPC’s Executive Director, R Sarangapani, among others.
