New Delhi: Vivek Chandrakar Tongaonkar is set to become the next Director (Finance) of Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel recommended his appointment.
Presently serving as Director (Finance) & Chief Financial Officer at Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), Tongaonkar’s nomination follows a selection process involving 12 candidates from various organisations.
Tongaonkar began his career as an Assistant Executive Engineer (Electrical). He has an engineering degree from the College of Engineering, Pune, and an MBA (Finance) at the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune. He then transitioned to the Finance discipline within ONGC and served as the Executive Director – Chief Corporate Finance of ONGC.
Before his current role at MRPL, Tongaonkar served as the CFO of ONGC from April 2021 to December 2021. He has also served as the Executive Director – Chief Offshore Finance in Mumbai, overseeing the finance functions of ONGC’s largest operational and revenue area.
The PESB selection panel interviewed 12 candidates for the Director (Finance) role, including representatives from ONGC, ONGC Videsh Limited, HPCL, IOCL, OIL, MRPL, and Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).
