New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel has suggested the name of Achyut Ghatak for the role of Director (Technical) of Coal India Limited (CIL). He has been chosen for the post from a list of 11 candidates who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel.
Ghatak is presently serving as the Director (Technical) at Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL). He has a vast experience of more than three decades in the coal industry. He received his degree in Mining Engineering from the Government of Engineering College, Raipur in 1989, and a first-class Mining certificate in 1992. He began his career as a Junior Executive Trainee at Western Coalfields Limited in 1989 and has since served in various important roles within CIL before joining CMPDIL in January 2023.
Coal India Limited is a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India established in 1975. It is headquartered in Kolkata and is the largest government-owned coal producer in the world. It is designated as a ‘Maharatna’ company, a status given by the government to top-performing government enterprises. CIL has its subsidiaries in eight Indian states and operates through more than 80 mining areas.
