New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India has acquired Sirohi Transmission Limited, the project special purpose vehicle (SPV) from PFC Consulting Limited. Sirohi Transmission will establish a Transmission System to evacuate power from the Rajasthan REZ Phase IV in the Jaisalmer/Barmer complex.
Sirohi Transmission will implement a project to establish a new 765/400 kV sub-station near Sirohi in Rajasthan, 765 kV, and 400 kV D/C transmission lines and associated bays extension works at existing substations in the state. The project is on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis from the Bid Process Coordinator- PFC Consulting Limited. Power Grid has been constructing several transmission systems on the BOOT basis. These projects will help reduce reliance on fossil fuels for power generation and transmission and will augment the Indian Transmission Infrastructure to transfer green energy to the National Grid. This will aid in achieving the government’s vision of achieving the 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030.
Sirohi Transmission Limited was established by the Bid Process Coordinator in January 2024. It was incorporated under the ‘Guidelines Encouraging Competition in Development of Transmission Projects’ and ‘Tariff-based Competitive-bidding Guidelines for Transmission Service’ as per the notification of the Ministry of Power.
