New Delhi: Sandeep Poundrik, a 1993-batch IAS officer from the Bihar cadre has taken over as Secretary of the Ministry of Steel at Udyog Bhawan. In addition to holding several other positions in the Bihar government, Poundrik was the Industries Department’s Additional Chief Secretary.
Poundrik held talks with senior Ministry officials after taking on his new role to discuss the advancements made in India’s steel industry. The government’s goal is to support the steel industry’s expansion, particularly in rural areas with the help of policies. He previously held the positions of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Advisor in the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
It is anticipated that after he is appointed the permanent steel secretary, various crucial projects of the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) can get approval from the ministry and other processes may get accelerated too.
