New Delhi: Joydeep Dasgupta has been appointed as the Director (Production) of the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Limited. He was recommended for the role by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel. The move has come as the position of Director (Production) at NMDC is lying vacant.
Currently, Dasgupta serves as the Executive Director (Mines) at Jharkhand Group of Mines of Steel Authority of India (SAIL). He will take charge as Director (Production) at NMDC after receiving the requisite clearance from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. He has been selected for the post from a list of 12 candidates who appeared for the interview.
The National Mineral Development Corporation is a Schedule ‘A’ public sector enterprise incorporated in 1958. It is the largest producer of iron ore in the country and is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel. Since its inception, the organization has been involved in the exploration of a wide range of minerals such as copper, rock phosphate, limestone, diamond, and tungsten among others in some of the most isolated parts of the country.
