New Delhi: Dr. DK Sunil, Director (Engineering, Research and Development) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has taken over an additional charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of the company, succeeding CB Ananthakrishnan. He joined HAL in 1987 as a Management Trainee and has more than three decades of experience in multiple roles in the company. During his tenure, he has made significant contributions to various aspects of the company’s operations, including design, production, quality enhancement, and customer support.
Under his leadership, HAL witnessed the development of various new technologies including radar power supply, voice-activated control system, and combined interrogator transponder, which have expanded the growth potential of the company. As a visionary, he played an instrumental role in establishing partnerships with institutions like IIT Kanpur for datalinks and IIIT Hyderabad for voice recognition technologies.
He also aided the defense company in obtaining military certification for the HTT 40 aircraft program and attaining pivotal projects like the Indigenous Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH) and Utility Helicopter Maritime (UHM).
Through his innovation-centric approach, Sunil has played a key role in strengthening HAL’s position in advanced technologies. His expertise, leadership, and vision are expected to drive the company toward even greater heights in the aerospace sector.
