Chennai: Galaxy Health & Allied Insurance Company named Gopalan Srinivasan its managing director and CEO. The company recently entered the health insurance sector and received its registration from the Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority of India (Irdai). Srinivasan, a seasoned insurance leader and former CMD of New India Assurance, brings over 40 years of industry experience, including key roles at United India Insurance and the National Insurance Academy.
Founder V Jagannathan, who previously led Star Health and Allied Insurance, has assembled a leadership team at Galaxy Health, which also includes Hari Krishnan Nagarajan as CFO. The company has yet to reveal its product lineup and pricing strategy, though it is expected to focus on either the retail health insurance or group health (employer-employee) segment.
Srinivasan’s appointment underscores Galaxy Health’s strategic ambition to carve out a significant presence in India’s competitive health insurance market. With seven health insurers in India, including Star Health, Niva Bupa, and Narayana Health, Galaxy Health will face fierce competition as it prepares to launch its offerings. The market awaits the company’s next moves, particularly in pricing and target segments.
