New Delhi: The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has partnered with interactive entertainment platform WinZO under a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to revolutionize India’s gaming and interactive entertainment industry. The initiative aims to foster innovation, develop skilled talent, and scale Indian startups to compete on a global stage.
A key feature of the collaboration is the establishment of a Center of Excellence (CoE) by WinZO in partnership with DPIIT. The CoE will provide a launchpad for over 2,000 startups, innovators, and students, offering mentorship, industry insights, and access to global markets. It will focus on addressing challenges such as monetization and talent gaps while promoting the creation of Made in India gaming assets of world-class quality. The partnership also expands WinZO’s flagship Tech Triumph Program, supporting game developers through hackathons, workshops, and accelerator initiatives. Additionally, startups will gain access to WinZO’s $50 million fund for interactive entertainment ventures, along with mentorship and investor connections.
The initiative, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, seeks to position India as a leader in the $300 billion global gaming market. Saumya Singh Rathore, Co-Founder of WinZO, described the MoU as a transformative step that will spotlight Indian intellectual property and products on the world stage. With India’s interactive entertainment industry projected to grow to $60 billion by 2034, creating over 2 million jobs, the MoU aims to shape the future of India’s gaming ecosystem and solidify its global presence.
This strategic partnership is expected to make India a hub for advanced gaming innovation and intellectual property creation.
