New Delhi: Amantya Technologies, which operates in the US, Canada, and India (Gurgaon, Bangalore, and Nagpur), has been awarded funding under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) scheme, managed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) as part of its “Digital Bharat Nidhi.”
The grant will support Amantya’s ambitious project to develop a carrier-grade standalone (SA) 5G Core solution fully compliant with the latest 3GPP Release 16/17 standards.
The initiative, titled “Development of ‘India 5G Stack’ with the Next-Gen 3GPP Release 16/17 Compliant ‘Made in India 5G SA Core’ for Public and Enterprise Deployment,” builds on Amantya’s existing enterprise-grade 5G SA Core. The goal is to deliver a robust, secure, and scalable 5G solution tailored for both large-scale public carriers and private enterprise networks.
Advancing Indigenous 5G Technology
The carrier-grade 5G SA Core will include advanced features such as network slicing, Quality of Service (QoS), Voice over New Radio (VoNR), Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC), and massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC). It will also integrate functionalities like geo-redundancy, high availability, traffic monitoring using the EFK framework, and automatic scaling.
Designed to be cloud-agnostic, the solution will support deployment on platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, and OpenShift, enabling flexible use in carrier, private, or on-premises clouds. Additional northbound interfaces will allow seamless integration with third-party OSS/BSS and billing systems, ensuring compatibility with both existing 4G/5G networks and future telecom advancements.
Government Support for Self-Reliance
The project agreement was signed at a ceremony in New Delhi, attended by prominent industry leaders, including Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, Dr. Parag Agarwal, DDG of TTDF at DoT, and Anuradha Gupta, CEO of Amantya Technologies.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating: “Amantya’s initiative is a key milestone for India’s telecom ecosystem. Developing a 5G SA Core domestically will provide an indigenous option for deployment under Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
Dr. Parag Agarwal, DDG of TTDF, emphasized the broader implications, adding: “This funding support to Amantya Technologies is a testament to India’s growing capabilities in the telecom sector. By fostering innovation and self-reliance, this initiative will play a crucial role in transforming India into a global hub for 5G technology.”
Bridging the Digital Divide
Amantya’s CEO, Anuradha Gupta, expressed her gratitude, noting, “Developing a carrier-grade 5G SA Core solution within India is a significant step towards achieving self-reliance in telecom technology. This project aligns with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and will enhance the country’s telecom infrastructure while preparing us for future advancements like 6G.”
Beyond boosting domestic manufacturing and innovation, the project aims to bridge the digital divide by extending high-speed connectivity to rural and remote areas. Its focus on a “Made in India” approach promises to reduce network deployment costs, encouraging the widespread adoption of 5G technology and accelerating India’s digital transformation.
This development marks a pivotal step in India’s journey toward becoming a global leader in telecom technology while strengthening the foundation for future advancements in 5G and beyond.
