New Delhi: The Central Government has appointed Tuhin Kanta Pandey as the new Revenue Secretary in the Finance Ministry. A notification of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet confirmed the appointment stating that Pandey would also continue to serve as the Finance Secretary. Arunish Chawla, the previous Revenue Secretary, has now been made the Secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), a role previously entrusted to Pandey.
Pandey is an IAS officer of the 1987 batch belonging to the Odisha cadre. He has served in various capacities in the government of Odisha and the Government of India. The Finance Ministry designated Pandey as the DIPAM secretary in 2019 and he was appointed the Finance Secretary last year. He has also served as the Executive Director of the Odisha State Finance Corporation (OSFC) and Managing Director of the Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC).
Moreover, he was also the Deputy Secretary in the Department of Commerce (Government of India) and was later deputed to the Regional Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). After returning from the deputation, Pandey served as Special Secretary, General Administration Department, Transport Commissioner, as well as Health Secretary, and Commissioner, Commercial Taxes. In 2009, he took charge as the Joint Secretary, Planning Commission for five years and subsequently became the Joint Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat for a period of two years.
Pandey holds a Masters degree in Economics from Punjab University and an MBA from the UK. His professional journey has given him wide experience in the areas of industrial development, financial management, and public finance.
