New Delhi: The Adani Group has announced an investment of over Rs 6,000 crore to establish two large-scale medical campuses in Ahmedabad and Mumbai under its new healthcare initiative, Adani Health City (AHC). The project, developed by the company’s not-for-profit healthcare arm, aims to expand access to medical education, clinical research, and advanced treatment facilities.
Medical Colleges, Research Centers Part of Expansion
Each Adani Health City campus will include a 1,000-bed multi-specialty hospital, a medical college, and dedicated research facilities. The initiative seeks to strengthen India’s healthcare system by focusing on clinical research, biomedical informatics, and training for medical professionals.
In a move to integrate global expertise, Adani Health City has partnered with Mayo Clinic, a leading U.S.-based medical group. The collaboration will focus on bringing advanced clinical practices and medical technology to the Indian healthcare sector.
Private Sector’s Growing Role in Healthcare Infrastructure
With large-scale investments in hospitals and medical education, companies like Adani Group are stepping into areas traditionally dominated by government institutions. Experts see this as a push towards bridging gaps in healthcare accessibility, though affordability remains a key concern.
The launch of Adani Health City reflects a larger trend of corporate investment in healthcare, signaling long-term changes in India’s medical education and treatment ecosystem. While these facilities promise world-class care, their impact on public healthcare access will be closely observed as the project develops.
