New Delhi: Komaljit Meena, a 2012-batch Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) officer, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Defence. His appointment is part of a recent administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening key positions within the ministry.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Meena’s appointment has been made under the Central Staffing Scheme. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Department of Revenue.
Meena will serve in his new role for a period of four years from the date he assumes charge or until further orders, whichever comes earlier. The order also directs that he be relieved of his current responsibilities immediately to facilitate his transition to the Department of Defence.
This move is in line with the government’s efforts to streamline operations and ensure efficient administration in key sectors. Meena’s expertise in revenue services is expected to contribute to the department’s strategic and financial operations. His appointment underscores the government’s focus on appointing experienced officers to critical roles.
