Mumbai: The board of directors of Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) has announced the appointment of Anant Ambani as an executive director of the company for a term of five years, commencing on 1 May. He will be a whole-time executive director.
In August 2023, the board authorised the appointment of Anant Ambani and his siblings, Isha and Akash Ambani, as non-executive directors. This was followed by shareholder approval for the next generation’s leadership appointment in October 2023.
The newly appointed full-time executive director has received his degree from Brown University.
Anant Ambani’s responsibilities have expanded over time. He served on the boards of Jio Platforms Ltd, Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd, Reliance New Energy Ltd, and Reliance New Solar Energy Ltd from March 2020 to May 2022.
Subsequently, in August 2022, he was appointed as the head of the company’s energy vertical, and since September 2022, he has also been a member of the Reliance Foundation’s board.
Among the Ambani siblings, he was the first to be named an executive director at RIL.
