Shillong: More than 20 schools across Meghalaya have launched Project MATE (Mind Activation Through Education) to promote mental well-being among adolescent students.
This program has been developed by AIIMS Delhi Department of Psychiatry to equip students with tools to manage stress and anxiety.
The Meghalaya Programme for Adolescent Wellbeing is rolling it out with CSR support from Oil India. It is targeted at students from Class VI to VIII.
The program focuses on holistic biophysical development and helps children build resilience against growing mental health challenges.
The MATE-5 concept encourages students to build a close-knit support circle of trusted friends. It aims to recreate emotional bonds through peer support.
Meghalaya schools are deploying Project MATE through experiential workshops involving students, as well as parents and teachers, to create a comprehensive support ecosystem.
